Small Business Highlight

How long have you been in the jewelry industry?

I started making jewelry to keep myself busy during the pandemic. I learned the knotting technique from a video and practiced as much as I could. During quarantine, I sourced beads from Etsy since I most storefronts and shows were shut down.

What made you decide to start making jewelry?

I have always been a creative person. As a kid, I used to make lanyards and friendships bracelets at camp. My love of jewelry making has continued to grow and evolve. This is my first venture into fine jewelry and I have really discovered a passion for using gold and gemstones to create wearable art.

Where do you create all of your pieces?

In my living room! I love my home so much -- it's where I am most comfortable and at peace.

What would you like people to know about your business?

My business is a small side project, but I hope to continue growing. A single piece might take a month to create. I work a separate, full-time job and have a 6-year-old daughter, so I often have to balance competing priorities. That being said, Jewelry making offers me space to be free and creative, so I dedicate as much time as possible towards perfecting each piece.

How do you source your materials?

I've built relationships with vendors by attending gem and bead shows throughout the Bay Area. The beads come from all over the world, including countries like India & Egypt. I still do use Etsy if there is a specific stone I am unable to find through my partners.

What does a typical necklace cost?

Since I solely use 14k gold findings, as well as precious & semi-precious stones, a necklace can range anywhere from $250+ depending on the stones/gems themselves, bead size, and length of the necklace.

My average price is currently $400

What is your favorite combination in a necklace?

Rainbow -- These are different combinations of amethyst, rose quartz, strawberry quartz, amazonite, opal, apatite, jade, pink chalcedony, to name a few. The list goes on! Rainbow strands are the most popular and the most fun to create.

Do you create anything else?

I also make bracelets.

Do you ever create custom pieces?

I am happy to create custom pieces upon request. However, making pieces from my own creativity brings me so much joy
