CinemaSF offers a unique movie going experience with new and old movies, live orchestras, special guests and concerts! I recently had the pleasure of meeting owners, Adam and Jaimi and asked them their personal take on the theaters:
What is something you want someone to know who has never visited any of your theaters?
At one point in San Francisco there were 58 neighborhood theaters. People walked to their neighborhood theater for news and Entertainment. At various stages of modern history they have one by one closed. When people enter one of the theaters they should know they have entered one of the last remaining theaters and are having a modern experience in a historical setting.
SF Chronicle recently published an article naming the 4 Star theater “one of the coolest music venues in the city.“ What is the music scene like at the 4 Star?
We do between 5 and 10 shows a month often in conjunction with our friends at Tunnel Records who have a record store in the lobby at the 4 Star. People can expect to see local indie rock bands such as the Reds, Pinks and Purples, April Magazine, Uncle Chris, and Double Helix Peace Treaty all the way up to international touring acts such as Taj Mahal, Robyn Hitchcock, and Suzzane Ciani to name a few. It’s an intimate setting and we often pair interesting visuals with the live performance.
