The Neighbors

Bernal Heights is a very family friendly neighborhood. You’ll see families enjoying the sun in Holly Park and Precita Park. You can see plenty of dog-owners with their canine companions among the slopes of Bernal Heights Hill. Catch hipsters and artists sipping coffee at Cortland Avenue's coffee shops throughout the day.

What to Expect

Built rapidly after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, many old houses still exist in Bernal Heights. Residents living close to either Mission Street or Cortland Avenue have the easiest access to restaurants, bars, and public transit. The 24-Divisadero bus runs along Cortland, while the 14-Mission and 49-Van Ness, which run down Mission Street, are two of the longest bus routes in San Francisco.

The Lifestyle

Living near the neighborhood's central hill allows residents to hike through Bernal Hill Park and take in amazing city views. Cortland Avenue offers a wide variety of options as well, including a surplus of coffee shops.

Unexpected Appeal

The location makes it convenient to leave the city for big shopping trips in suburban strip malls, but the northern section also offers convenient access to the Mission, its nightlife, and activities.

The Market

Bernal Heights real estate prices are relatively reasonable compared to other sections of the city, but as more people have looked to live in the southeastern section of the city to commute south, it’s grown in popularity. The close proximity to I-280 and I-101 and the opportunity to purchase a “fixer-upper” home has made this a popular spot to settle.

You’ll Fall in Love With

You’ll fall in love with this tight knit vibrant community. Multiple parks abundant with flowers give children and dogs plenty of open green spaces to play.
